Spirit Airlines, a progressive and popular airline based in Miramar Florida. Their in-flight service has been considered above current service levels being provided by the 'oldies,' American, United, USAirways.

As part of the aircraft's 'prepping' (preparing for a fresh series of flights over the course of several days,' cabins are stocked with a small supply of pillows and blankets. As with all domestic air services across the US, a logical balance of anticipated need + economics is applied. Consequently, whilst there isn't a sufficient number of pillows/blankets to provide every passenger on board, there's a small supply for those who may sincerely need them for their in-flight comfort.

Sadly, dispensables such as children's captain's wings, playing cards, paracetamol/tylenol, Dioralyte, nappies, postcards, pillows, blankets, etc., have been severely curtailed, if not eliminated altogether. This is due to two factors - the direct cost applied to the 'PSM' (per seat mile cost) for the flights overall, and the alarming levels of theft.

Today there are several carriers who maintain all the above items, and more, ob board. However, each item, including pillows and blankets, are sold rather than provided with compliments. It's the only way airlines can barely sustain break-even margins, especially in light of spiralling jet-fuel costs.
