To some degree, it is.

Jordan is a constitutional monarchy in which the King holds broad executive authority. They have a bicameral legislature - half of which is elected directly by the people in their respective constituencies, while the other half is appointed directly by the King. The political situation is manipulated to ensure the continued dominance of monarchial loyalists. The King can dissolve Parliament at will, appoints the position of Prime Minister, and is the Commander-in-Chief of the Jordanian Army.

The current reigning monarch is King Abdullah II, who inherited the throne in 1999 from his late father and Jordanian ruler of over four decades, King Hussein.
