As you increase a vehicle's height three things happen

  1. There is a danger the the top will hit low objects (bridges, tree branches etc)
  2. The centre of gravity for the vehicle rises too, which means that the vehicle may tip over when going round a bend fast.
  3. The vehicle will become susceptible to cross winds that may blow the vehicle over.

The height of the vehicle is kept low as possible to lower their centre of gravity and help to increase its stability
