try an adoption or rescue center. There is the SPCA, the local pound, or they have local rescue centers for certain breeds that you can find online. There is often an adoption fee or $75-$150, BUT keep in mind you are getting puppies that have had their shots and alters (neuture/spay) included in the price. Not only that, but these are organizations that are non profit and depend on those adoption fees to care for their animals. Either way, that is a lot lower than what you would spend at a vet getting your puppy fixed and vaccinated. PLEASE AVOID breeders, puppy mills, and pet stores that sell animals. There is so much abuse occurring in these situations and people are financially benefitting from it! DO NOT financially support these evil people. I have worked in the animal health field and I have witnesses this with my own eyes. Also, there are risks involved with purchasing pure breed animals. They are inbred and their is a higher risk of them having medical problems because of their gene pool. It's just like the royal families that used to develope rare genetic diseases because they were trying to keep the bloodline in the family.

A lot of people think that you can't find puppies at the pound or SPCA but that is untrue. You never know what you are going to find there, plus these are animals that desperately need your love, their lives depend on it. I cannot tell you how many times people came in the animal hospital I worked at with dogs that retail in the thousands (how sad that there are retail value for another beings life) that they found at the local pound/dog shelter.
