What else was going on during the Holocaust... besides World War 2?

Nazi genocide started before the official beginning of World War 2. Before the mass extermination of Jews, it was political prisoners, homosexuals, gypsies, and the mentally challenged being put to death. Other things happening during this time were several Worlds Series, advances in technology, science, and the medical fields, and in neutral countries, life went on as before.
