What does democracy have to do with the Vietnam war?

Well, it's preservation was the whole reason we (the U.S.) were there.

There was no democracy anywhere in Vietnam (not even a democratic republic) both North and South Vietnam were dictatorships. South Vietnam was just our Dictatorship.
