When your period is on is there supposed to be a fishy odor?

* the period blood its self should smell sweetish but then the vaginal area shouldn't smell fishy, unless you have a low level of hygiene in that area. Try to keep clean down there and it should be ok, if there is anything you are worried about, it is best to go see your gp, although it seems embarrasing, all doctors have seen allsorts before so you won't shock them.
