Is Christmas about presents or Jesus' birth?

Christmas stands for Christ mass coming from the early Catholic church. The original celebration was of pagan origins going back long before Christ. You can find ancient carvings that include "Christmas" trees. When pagan Rome started to become Christianized the people had a hard tinge giving up all of their traditions that they enjoyed so they tried to turn around the meanings of their their traditions and make it Christian. Early protestants did not celebrate Christmas, in fact, it was illegal. Eventually it became accepted and they used symbolism to represent the birth of Christ such as the star representing the star if Bethlehem and the gifts representing the gifts brought by the magi. Some even say the evergreen represents everlasting life in Christ. Many Christians now are choosing not to celebrate Christmas because if the pagan origins while others are offended at not celebrating. Christmas really became popular in America because of Coca- Cola.
