Well, you have got your choice of three--and what a fine choice it is! We shall begin the decade with the disgraced Republican Richard M. Nixon--whose social programs were to the left of anything candidate John Kerry could admit to the nation he might have wanted. We are lucky times have changed a bit. Second, was his reasonably mild, foot ball playing appointee, Gerald Ford. He didn't last very long, only two years. People still were wary of an appointment made by a president known to be crazed and forced to resign. Ending the decade was the single term of Jimmy Carter, peanut farmer and nuclear physicist, who did a much better job than that for which he was ever given credit.
