Name the sources of energy

Renewable energy (solar, wind, water, hydro, tidal and wave, geothermal, ocean thermal, biomass, biofuel and hydrogen).

I must say bioenergy had not occurred to me as a future energy source, but my initial reaction was to jump to a connection between DNA mapping and biologically produced electrical current [e.g. the electric eel which is purported to have quite a jolt]. If I had access to mapping DNA and the ability to "construct" living generators of electricity I'd be on it in a flash. Someone please tell me this avenue is being explored vigorously! We are all aware that the first goal of this era must be how to escape this planet before resources fail or catastrophe strices. The future of mankind is poised precariously on solving such problems as ample, portable, renewable/constant energy.
