In what year did the magician John Calvert had boat trouble and ended up swimming in the sea towards a town in Tawau Sabah Malaysia?

Type your answer here... I think it was in the sixties. His yacht was in the shipyard for repairs he was on his way back to Tawau to do a show that night. A strong wind came up and the little boat began to sink. He had a hitchhiker with him and he could not swim. He got on top of the boat and the rip tide swept the little boat out to sea. The Marine Police picked him up during the night, but John swam all night for 15 hours and forty five minutes. The next morning way off in the distance he saw three little sampans (outrigger sailboats) He prayed and asked God to send him the closest one because he could not last much longer and it started coming closer and closer and came right up and picked him up. The took him to a big cargo ship lying at anchor in the harbor waiting to take on timber. The captain of the ship radioed the marine police and soon they came to pick him up He got a message to the man that picked him up with the sail boat and made him a present of an outboard motor and a nylon sail.
