Do bats use echo sounding

Well a bat uses it's larynx (vocal chords) to emit a sound waves that they listen for , and when those sound waves bounce of of objects or animals that are closer they come back faster then things farther away, which can effectively form a detailed map of where the bat is at. Think of it like a ship's radar system.
