Between $10,000 and $100,000 depending on the doctors experience and reputation, what area of the country you live in, and how many attempts are needed before it "takes."

Most couples I know have spent between $20 and $40 thousand, average. Some insurance companies will pay for ONE attempt or part of one attempt. However many people need repeated attempts.

Then there are monthly or yearly storage fees if you don't want your extra eggs or embryos destroyed.

You can donate unused eggs/embryos to other couples who can't use their own but may have to pay lawyers for legal paperwork. e.g. Future custody issue prevention, sign away parental rights. You will need a separate lawyer than the couple taking your eggs/embryos because using theirs or letting them pay is a legal conflict of interest and will not hold up in court later.

If money is an issue, it is sometimes less expensive to adopt an infant or orphan. In addition saving a homeless child it is a wonderful show of pure maternal instinct and love.

But the choice of IVF is a personal one - it is your body - and you should do what YOU choose (without family pressure) after deep reflection and counseling. Good luck.
