Americans get several days off if the holiday is close to the weekend.
Some people go to grave sites to put fresh flowers on the war heroes. The Military puts little flags at each grave plot and Washington DC puts on a big military band bash and honoring of the past veterans and the ones still living.
Around the nation many go camping, to the beach or stay home to enjoy seeing the big Washington DC bash on TV.
They have veterans in parades in hundreds of towns and cities in all the states. The towns people honor the vets. As a girl I even got to see a Civil War Vet honored. Amazing.
