Why didn't Thomas Jefferson list his presidency on his tombstone?

Maybe Thomas Jefferson didn't want everyone to know about how he was a presidant, he might have been prouder about how he was the author the the Declaration of Independence. Thomas Jefferson may have forgot to write his gravestone thing. So it might be the fact that one of his relatives wrote this and knew that Thomas did not want his presidency in Words on his stone. His relatives might even be jealous, but other then that i have no clue.
