When did web 2.0 like facebook and youtube become popular?

Facebook was created back in '04, and have been getting increasingly popular ever since. Today there's more then 1 billion accounts in there.

YouTube was created in '05 and bought by google inc. in '06, so I would say YouTube started hitting it off somewhere around '06.
