What are the waste of hydroelectric power?

Although waste from an operating hydroelectric power system is minimal it does exist. The water flowing to the turbines often has a screen upstream of the turbines to remove debris from the water that could damage the turbine blades. Collected debris must be removes and disposed of in a proper fashion.
