If formocresol is spilled on your skin, you will feel a burning sensation. It burns! Take off your clothing and wash with soap and water immediately. Treat as a burn. It felt like the burning feeling was getting worse and worse so I went into the ER and was given a solution PegLyte to clean off the formocresol. My thighs currently are red just like a sun burn (exactly what the doctor said). Better to leave it untouched or you can put aloe vera, and take Advil for an anti-inflammatory. The doctor said to take note of spreding of the redness and for fever (means skin is infected) and go back to ER. You should also consult with your family doctor (which I will do tomorrow morning). It will hurt but right now it has soothed down, but my skin is rough like a burn and is peeling slightly. That's what I know and hope this will help anyone who is (hopefully not, be careful) experiencing this.
