What religion honors silence?

There are two possibilities here. One is Zen Buddhism, which places a high value on meditation. Zen is the religion (if you can call it a religion, maybe you can't), that asks questions like: "What is the sound of one hand clapping?"

The other possibility is several contemplative religious orders in the Roman Catholic church, where silence - in a few cases virtual perpetual silence - is part of their ethic.
