What is harming bees?

Bees can sting people and animals, but only if they are provoked or disturbed. If they are left alone bees are generally harmless.

Bees (unless they are the aggressive Africanized bee) will only sting in self defence. In fact, they die if they sting, because their sting has a barb that remains in the person stung. The bee is damaged and dies.

They are very important for their role in pollinating vegetable and fruit crops.
