Is gateway a good computer

It really depends what you are looking for.

They use generic components to build their units, so for the extreme gamer it could be a bit of a hassle to deal with cheap stuff, but for the everyday user they are great.

I would say from simple Word processing and web browsing to light multi media and gaming would about cover the range of Gateway brand computers.
