What is oatfeed?

Oatfeed is a by-product (usually of Porrige products) obtained during the processing of screened, dehusked oats into oat groats and flour. It consists principally of oat bran and some endosperm.

It is usually a small (~5mm) pellet used as an animal feed and has a low nutritive (Prot:5%) and energy value (6mj/kgDM) but is quite palatable and high in fibre.

Sometimes called "Breakfast Bran" or "Oat Middlings"
