IF the vehicles is registered and plated as a farm vehicle (it can't be an ICC/MC licenced commercial carrier vehicle), it may be operated within 150 miles of the farm without a CDL, provided that:

  • It is used solely for the purposes of the farm to which it is registered, and is not hired out for third-party work
  • It is operated by the farmer, immediate family members of the farmer, or direct employees of the farmer (a W-2 employee is a direct employee; a 1099 employee is not)
