If your team has the ball, you are on offense, not defense. The defensive team is the one trying to stop the offensive team from advancing and scoring. Your objective on offense is to move the ball down the field and create scoring opportunities. Conversely, when your team is on defense, your goal is to regain possession and prevent the opposing team from scoring.
