A passenger plane takes off by accelerating along the runway, where its engines generate thrust to overcome drag and lift is created by the wings as air flows over them. Once the wings reach the necessary angle of attack and speed, the aircraft becomes airborne. For landing, the plane descends gradually, reducing speed and configuring its flaps for increased lift at lower speeds. It touches down on the runway, using reverse thrust and brakes to come to a complete stop.
