Why CCTV cameras are monochrome?

because you can fit more video on a tape or a disc when the colors are limited

to light, dark, and shades of grey. This allows a better conservation of recordable

media and hence, reduces operating costs.

Perhaps not so much an issue nowadays with the memory amounts now available on small chips, and huge computer hard drives!!
