Most of the "basics" were remarkably similar, allowing for the cultural differences from 65 years ago. One notable difference, though, is that while "guy/girl" dates were just as common as now, going out in a group (each individual with their own date, but a "group dating" thing) was very common, perhaps even the norm. 1940's trivia: The most insulting, scathing name one girl could call another was a "crumb".
