Egg: They start out as eggs that are the size of a period, or the dot usually found at the end of a sentence. They are laid during late summer or early fall and lay dormant until spring. When first born they eat through mullberry leaves and then start to eat tougher leaves.

Larvae: The silkworms now go through five instars, stages of growth, as they outgrow and shedd skin.

First instar: Durring the first instar the silk worm loses its hairy skin.

last instar: Now that the silk worm is full grown and the size of your ring finger it spins a white or yellow cocoon and lay there for 2 to 3 weeks.

Moth: after the 2 to 3 weeks of metamorphosis the moth does not eat or drink instead it mates, lays eggs, and dies.
