Where should a thesis statement be written?

In the very beginning of your essay. Ex:

In the story (type story name) (Then this is your thesis statement). I feel this way because (Give your reasons)

I hope this works. Just a couple of months ago, our teacher taught us how to make thesis statements. She told us we had to learn at a young age so in college, we would know this already.
