What does the EML computer module control on the 2006 BMW X3?

EML stands for Elektronische Motorleistungsregelung in german. Translated it means "electronic power control". It controls your electronic throttle body. Many models of BMW automobiles do not have a physical cable controlling the throttle. When you press on the gas pedal a sensor sends a signal to the EML, then the EML operates an electric motor in the throttle body to open the throttle and you go.
