I think you mean Roladex. Roladex is a brand name for a rolling index of either business cards inserted in clear plastic holders or small paper cards that most people use to house contact information. The cards or plastic holders are inserted onto an "axel" type rod that spins. Each category is separated with an index (i.e. A, B, C, D or some other way of defining the data kept on the card)

These were used prior to computers and handheld devices where most people now keep their contact information.
