Why did the garment workers union grow after the triangle?

Union membership grew. The women who died in the fire were locked in the building by chains with locks on the doors. After the fire people saw that the women's rights were violated. They were not given breaks, no bathroom breaks, locked into the building. Today, there are still companies who do not protect workers nor have good save working conditions. Unions help protect workers from abuse by employers.
