By asking out another boy for you, it could mean that the boy you like actually likes you too - it shows that he's interested in who you go out with, and if he asks a boy whom he knows will say no, that gives him the confidence to ask YOU out because he knows he's not in competition with that boy. When a boy in my English class liked me (let's call him Calvin), he asked another one of my male friends who liked me (whom Calvin didn't feel threatened by) if they would go out with me. When that boy got all embarrassed and told him to shut up, Calvin had this huge grin on his face because this meant he had more of a shot with me. And after this Calvin asked me out!
