Do I need to have special permits to build a deck on my house?

Anyone building a new deck, replacing or adding onto an existing deck needs to obtain a building permit. Other permits may also be required. Exception: A deck less than two feet above finished grade does not require a permit. An inspection also required once the deck is complete. Call 403-948-8833.
