Was Moses the first prophet

Though Moses indeed spoke God's Words to the Israelites as did other prophets after him and also made a number of prophetic predictions, he is not regarded as a central prophet.

Moses' greatness lies in his achievements in leading the Israelites out of bondage in Egypt, in receiving and transmitting God's Law to the Israelites and bringing them to the point of entry to the land of promise, Canaan. Probably his most enduring legacy was his authorship of the Pentateuch, the first 5 books of the Old Testament, The Torah.
