That is, those who supported and voted for Mr. Obama tend to believe what he says and trust him; those who opposed his candidacy and did not vote for him tend to be skeptical or even think he is lying. Thus, questions like this are a matter of opinion. Mr. Obama's supporters would say he is generally very honest, and he keeps many of the promises he makes: he said he would end the Iraq War, for example, and he did. He said he would champion policies that gave women equal pay for equal work, and he did that too. But his political opponents would say he cannot be trusted, and that the promises he made were only to get people to vote for him.
