Why are adults cruel to children?

Not all adults are cruel to children, but unfortunately; some are. Most abusive adults are the way that they are because they feel a need to have power over somebody, and that is usually not achievable on other confident adults. These abusers do deserve some pity, however. You see, the reason that abusers crave this power and control is because they were left powerless as children. They repeatedly seek to compensate for this by gaining power over others. Ironically, it is through doing so that they are forced to admit that their former abusers still have a power over them.
