What is a host or hostess?

A host is a woman or male that is bubbly, friendly, and usually visually appealing that greets the guest. At a restaurant it is the host that greets you first and welcomes you to the restaurant. It is the hosts job to make guests feel comfortable, wanted, and invited. The host of dinner parties or balls is the person who is throwing the event and is in charge of making sure everyone is enjoying themselves.
