Does anybody believe rocks are alive?

Rocks, which are inanimate objects, are not alive and have no souls. A good indicator that something is alive, that it has a soul, is if it conveys emotion. Dogs and cats convey emotion, and therefore are not only alive but also have souls. Insects operate completely off of instinct and chemical reaction, as do chickens. Thus, none of those have souls.
