What does a heat pump not do?

A heat pump does not generate heat; instead, it transfers heat from one location to another, either from the outside air or ground into a building for heating, or vice versa for cooling. Additionally, it does not operate effectively in extremely low temperatures without supplemental heating, as its efficiency diminishes in such conditions. Lastly, a heat pump does not provide hot water unless specifically designed as a heat pump water heater.
