Can you travel to New Zealand on Australian visa?

Not any more, some years ago travelling between NZ and Australia was like travelling between Australian states and a passport was not required. but as election came and went the there was political point scoring in order to get extra votes (New Zealand is exporting criminals to Australia) and vice versa. The newspapers jumped on the bandwagon and together they managed to alienate NZ and Australia from each other, Pity.
