Why are bioplastics not in much use now?

Bioplastics are not widely used primarily due to their higher production costs compared to conventional plastics, which makes them less economically viable for many applications. Additionally, there are challenges related to performance and durability, as some bioplastics may not meet the required standards for specific industrial uses. Furthermore, limited infrastructure for recycling and composting bioplastics can hinder their adoption. Lastly, consumer awareness and demand for sustainable options are still growing, but not yet at a level to significantly drive bioplastic usage.
