Why do cat breeders insist on keeping cats indoors?

Breeders often keep very valuable animals and don't want them picking up fleas or diseases from being outside. They could pass on a disease to their kittens and the breeder wouldn't make any money. The treatment would have to be paid for or if it is a serious condition, the kittens may not be saleable.
