Who was Charles upham?

Charles Upham was a New Zealand soldier and a highly decorated war hero during World War II. He is best known for his extraordinary bravery in battle, earning the Victoria Cross and the Bar, making him one of the few individuals to receive the Victoria Cross twice. Upham served with the 20th Battalion in the North African and Italian campaigns, where his leadership and courage were instrumental in numerous engagements. After the war, he returned to New Zealand, where he lived a quiet life until his death in 1994.
