A pampered house cat would learn how to survive on it's own out there in the great outdoors. It may not know defense strategies though, against predators. Especially if, for instance, the cat is used to living with a friendly dog, the approach of a hungry coyote may not cause the cat to immediately go into 'fight or flight' mode. But in saying that, I should also say that cats, while not always as willing to learn as dogs, can and do learn and sometimes they can learn things pretty quickly. When faced with danger, I'm sure the cat would do whatever it needed to in order to survive.

A domesticated cat that lives outdoors 24/7 would mostly certainly figure out how to survive, I think. It understands a little better the dangers around it and knows better how to respond in many cases. Cats in general are resilient creatures. They are delicately but sturdily made. The biggest things to cause concern if a house cat has gotten loose are coyotes and other wild canids (if you live in area where they are common) and vehicles.
