Can i Paint on a exterior canvass awning?

Canvas awnings covered in Sunbrella fabric can be painted, but it's generally not a good idea to paint one instead of getting the awning recovered.

Painting an awning will yield poor results and will make a huge mess. Recovering the awning with new fabric may be a better option and may not be as expensive as you think it would be. Many awning companies use exterior latex to paint on graphics. Our company has used this method with great success, but we never would attempt to do this on an entire awning.

One lesson that I've learned over the years as a avid do-it-yourself guy is that sometimes it's better and less expensive to do it right the first time, rather than do it wrong and then pay again to do it over the correct way...
