How long does it take to hybrid a flower?

A hybridizer may work for years on hybridizing a flower. While it takes one season to pollinate a flower with pollen, it may take years for the plant to grow to see if cross pollination produced a plant that was different from the parent plant. Gardeners have to be patient.
