Did hofstra ever have a duck as a mascot?

This is a great question! We were just wondering the same thing,

(probably why a web search led us to this site!)

There are some hazy, vague memories from the late '70s/early '80s of someone (or something) called the "Dutchmen Duck" cavorting around campus sporting events, although no official confirmation of this can be found anywhere.

Alumnae? Photos anyone? How about the guy who used to call up Manhattan Cable Television's "Crank Call Show" every week and confound John, the host, by repeatedly yelling "HOFSTRA!?"
