acually u can't! the way the transmission is set up is its gear to gear and not sincromesh like a car!!! the only way to skip a gear would be if u were shifting up while going down a hill or somthn like that because a big rig only has so little r.p.m. to work with if u could skip a gear u would b luggn the engine at around 300 rpm which probably wouldn't work and vise versa u would have to over rev the engine about 1000 rpm over the red line which wouldn't b good either !!!! I've driven for a long time and every trailer combination possible in my life and i tell yeah if u could skip gears or try u will b walking home in stead of driving like i said the only possibe way to skip gears is to b going down or up steep grades and the truck is eaither slowing down fast enough or speeding up to catch two gears!!!!! hope that's helpfull 4 ya!!!! this is all based on the popular eaton fuller transmissions if u were driving somthn like a 5/4 transmission the gears are so short u could in a way skip gears thanks!!!!!!!
