Bartholomew Roberts, also known as Black Bart, lived from 1682 to 1722. He was a Welsh pirate who became one of the most successful and notorious pirates of the Golden Age of Piracy, capturing over 400 ships during his career. His activities primarily took place in the waters of the Caribbean and along the Americas' eastern coast. Roberts was eventually killed in battle off the coast of Gabon in 1722.
